2BLU FM and ....

The winds dropped overnight which gave some respite re bushfires. Went to the Gearins to take part in the semi final and happily went on second. I didn't get through to the final but, apart from sweat running into my eyes, it felt good and I got a good reception. It all helps re getting performance skills up and, pretty much straight after playing, I walked across to Tres Elies where 2BLU FM were having their 2006 music awards. A very cheerful night and I was there in time to hear Nigel Foote play his lovely brand of 'power folk' and to hear John Stuart and a guy whose name escapes me but whose multi-instrument playing didn't. Joyous jazz. My award was a judges commendation for 'Let's get it right'....the lyrics are on the homepage here for awhile. This was a sweet moment as the M.C., Michael Smith, cheerfully introduced me as 'A young bloke who's been playing crap guitar for years..yet here he is..' All true of course...except the young bit. A light drizzle was falling as I got home....a perfect end to the night.
