I’ll watch the television news only to see what the local focus is. I don’t expect to see much in the way of investigative journalism and look elsewhere for thoughtful, constructive journalism.
I don’t know what it is that I don’t know, my education being ongoing, and thus podcasts and lectures fill that gap. These remarkable broadcasters don’t need to be right about all they espouse – George Galloway being an example in respect to his understanding of China and the conditions prevailing in that vast country. He recently mentions a population of a billion and a half and praises the Communist party for lifting millions out of poverty whereas I see a country collapsing under the weight of systemic corruption and a population much diminished in size. You wouldn’t know about this from mainstream news and George Galloway is very busy whereas I am not.
The Three Gorges dam is both a metaphor for the precarious state of Chinese society and the real ticking timebomb illustrating the arrogance of assuming that mankind can conquer nature.
The ’Judging Freedom’ podcast with superb guests including Scott Ritter – the man who found no weapons of mass destruction in Iraq – gives me a coherent picture of the war in Ukraine where the Europeans bluster and threaten and conveniently forget that this war would not have occurred had N.A.T.O. been disbanded when the Soviet Union collapsed and the need for N.A.T.O. disappeared.
Instead of that and despite the understanding that N.A.T.O. would not expand – ‘not one inch further’ - N.A.T.O. did indeed expand to Russian borders which is the equivalent of China being on the border of Mexico – would not the Americans feel threatened?
America has no moral compass and perhaps lost it when Kennedy was assassinated which explains why the public still don’t know what occurred and who was involved. Both political parties in the U.S.A. are bought and paid for by the Israel lobby and other vested interests. War criminals in high office feel safe partly because it’s a dreadful realisation for a human to truly understand that their government doesn’t work for the benefit of its people.
9/11 – an inside job which precipitated the long list of military excursions into the middle east, destroying societies which then precipitated the ongoing tidal waves of refugees invading Europe.
There appears to be no sense of recent history nor any sense of consequences to actions by political leaders.
Praveen Mohan gives me insight to ancient history from within India, the Britain’s Hidden History channel has given me much food for thought not just about a hidden history but a history rewritten to suit the prevailing ‘powers that be.’
Space Weather news gives me a brief daily update on what is happening on our Sun and how this and our planet’s weakening magnetic field affects climate. The grandly titled ‘Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change’ is specifically and only concerned with man made causes of climate change and thus is a poorly constructed view yet governments treat it as ‘gospel’ and any questioning leaves one open to being labelled as a climate change denier. What a woefully inadequate position for governments to take as societies grapple with ridiculous ‘Net Zero’ targets. The reliance on electricity via renewable sources is a nice idea but the Carrington Event of 1859 when a solar storm lit up and destroyed telegraph lines across America should give governments pause for thought but it doesn’t.
‘Architects and Engineers for 9/11 truth’, ‘Static in the attic’, ‘Two old dudes’, ‘Lei’s real talk’, ‘China observer’, ‘Dark Journalist’, ‘The Thunderbolts Project’ – these channels and others are a breath of fresh air for me.
Who wrote Shakespeare is a perfect example of a story we’re told and have accepted for centuries, whereas the likely truth of the matter, as the evidence provides, points to the 17th Earl of Oxford, Edward de Vere who had the required breadth of knowledge to write the plays whereas Shakespeare did not and could not, given his background. As to why such deception occurred – it just wasn’t the ‘done thing’ for an aristocrat, in those days, to write plays for public consumption. Poetry – yes, plays – no.
There is, of course, strenuous opposition from vested interests.
