a bit flat but only because I'm feeling two dimensional... it will pass

It’s a long, lonely trip from Katoomba to Sydney when nerves kick in. The mind plays tricks and I find myself wondering if my leg will suddenly snap and, thus, give me an honourable way out of my performance at Darling Harbour. Perhaps the origin of ‘break a leg’, used as a good luck saying for actors, has its genesis within those fears. Either way, nothing broke and all went well. T.J. from radio Skidrow was quite taken with the first song I played - ‘Overflow’ - and wondered why I hadn’t called it ‘Happy Birthday’ which is essentially what it is. I’ll follow that up with APRA and look at renaming it. She’s invited me on to her show this coming Thursday and this is something to which I’m looking forward. Radio is fun and easy and very much like a lounge room conversation. The stone throwers have been quiet for awhile and, as this behaviour is the product of a deranged mind, they are likely to have found some other poor sod to feel aggrieved about. The world financial crisis is the fault of greedy borrowers who could never afford to repay their loans... so say George Bush & Co. Hmm ... unadulterated rubbish. Lack of regulation and the dubious financial products thought up by the Captains of Industry will make the home loans debacle pale into insignificance and look ‘petite’ over the coming months. I haven’t written anything recently because I’ve had nothing to say. I don’t expect this to change over the next month or so but will look to record a few songs with Eliot Reynolds of Songcave. His site is www.songcavestudios.com for those interested. Grateful thanks to the Songwriting Society for organising the day at Darling Harbour. If a journey starts with a single step then I’ve taken fifty or so - in terms of public performance - this year and each small step adds incrementally to both confidence and momentum. I have the intention of continuing the walk along this path and will write about anything I find of interest. I’ll look for the uplifting as there’s just too much of the opposite. Hi Ho, hi ho ... it's off to work I go...... :)
