‘.... on the fifth day - animals to be sacrificed.’
Wouldn’t it be a fine thing if the sacrifice were our time, energy and focus rather than the empty gesture of blood.
Sacrifice is internal. I’m not happy with the Devil and I’m not happy with ‘the Devil made me do it.’ approach to life. What a cop out of responsibility. It’s very Monty Python’.
‘I couldn’t help it.... there I was minding my own business and suddenly - up flares me temper and I lash out at all around.....did a lot of damage ... must of been a demon....yea.... probably was a demon..... not my fault then.... in fact you could go so far as to say that I deserve sympathy.... what with the demon taking possession and that.....’
‘Er ..... alright then if I sacrifice a goat?’
Oh happy day. Just reading about a recent discovery of a reclining Buddha near to where the Taliban destroyed other large Buddhas. ‘Silly people’ to even think that a statue could need destroying or that this would serve any purpose. What’s the point of bludgeoning people into your way of thinking. It just doesn’t add up to any more than the grim faced exercise of power.
‘Yuchavee.....meuchen droog’...... something like that.... is the Welsh expression which describes something vile and disgusting and is spoken with a clearing of the throat on the ‘ch’ in the first word. ‘Meuchen droog.’ translates roughly as ‘Devil pig’ and also has the throat clearing sound on the ‘ch’. I’ve probably given a poor translation but it’s a wonderful expression and, given the state of the world, can be used frequently and with great vigour. ‘Yuchavee’ can be used on its own with varying tones of resignation or disgust. It’s very useful but might need explaining.
We need lots more reclining Buddhas. It’s all a bit earnest otherwise.
