The rains cease and the garden is lush. Reds, orange and yellow Canna lilies, higher than a man, burst upwards.
The parrots and the sulphur crested cockatoos have gorged on the fruit trees which, in turn, have produced slightly water-logged fruit so no great loss for this particular year.... I’ll use nets next year.
Butterflies in profusion along with mosquitoes and all manner of insect life introduce themselves as I work.
I come back from my ‘day job’ in the Group Home where my concerns are pretty much irrelevant to my clients and I watch a ten minute video of a twelve year old child castigate ‘the powers that be’ at the Earth Summit.
This is the link ..... you might have to copy and paste this link for it to work.

I write maybe two songs a year........ it doesn’t take up a lot of my life but each creation is a ‘new life’ which I love with the echo of that love you have for your child.
It’s hard to know whether or not the song will connect with others or suffer a quieter fate but they’re loved equally at their birth.
It’s been my fate to spend most of my life without a partner. Just stating a fact that some of you will both share and understand the ramifications inherent.
To be blessed with family - both immediate and extended - allows for a life with immediate meaning and responsibility.
I’m picking my words with care and with the appreciation that I live in Paradise compared with most of humanity over all of time.
I have the luxury of thought, of education, of pondering - and probably pontificating about all manner of ‘things’
Things like .... ‘Thou shall not kill.’
You can’t be serious can you God? What if someone threatens my family? I’m sorry but I’ll kill them first....... all the other commandments I can try or pretend that I , more or less, keep but THAT one..... don’t you - sorry YOU - know that there are some REALLY EVIL bastards out there?
So that’s my dilemma and should be the dilemma of every Muslim, Christian and - sigh - ‘fair dinkum’ Jew.
The Talmudic followers of Judaism have written a whole book about how to get around that problem so I won’t include them as ‘fair dinkum’.
Waiting for their Messiah to bring them back to the ‘Holy Land.’ has been neatly sidestepped by the fact that they ARE - tenuously - occupying Palestine.......so we don’t need to worry about that.
Yes - we do.
‘Fair dinkum’ Jews - of the Torah - are as horrified by events unfolding as the rest of the thinking world.
So, this line of thought comes from being both encouraged and vilified for my insightful and deranged ravings.
O.K. I would kill to save those dear to me but how can I dress that up at ‘holy’ when it’s forbidden?
I can’t and so - if I kill - it becomes a political act rather than a religious act. Point being that it ain’t justified by those Commandments and thus I have to live with that....... and that should make warfare a very sober matter. Each life precious and don’t forget it.
Who would I need to kill if I were a Palestinian and saw no hope for a future?
Surely, it’s the leaders and those who control - by fraud- the wealth of nations who need be looked at rather than the poor sod, on the ground, who just happened to get in the way.
The recent song that I’m very happy about is ‘You’re so good for me.’ which is drawn from the experiences of those I love rather than my own rather quiet love life.
My friend at work endorsed it highly so that’s a good note on which to end.
